Dear Link Sisters:
There
comes a time when we must all rise to
meet new challenges and spread our wings
to encompass new program initiatives
that will have a far reaching impact in
our communities! In this vain, we are
passionate about the work we do in the
Eastern Area, with its 74 chapters, and
2000 plus members. As the Eastern Area
Chairs of Women's Issues and National
Trends & Services, we are asking for
your assistance. We are asking that the
members of your chapter please take a
quick survey to assess needs for a forum
or symposium that addresses the impact
of The Sandwich Generation
on our community and chapter
members.
What is
the Sandwich Generation?
We are glad you asked! If you have ever
had to ask yourself, "Who will take care
of my children while I go and take care
of my parents or who will watch mom or
dad when I leave to go work?" You have
been sandwiched in! If you ever had to
forego a conference or a chapter meeting
or program because you did not know who
would watch your loved ones or if you
find yourself needing to be in two
places at the same time because you take
care of your household and that of a
loved one, you are a member of the
Sandwich Generation. Even if
these scenarios do not affect you
directly, we are sure that you know
someone who is affected.
We want to
make permanent footprints on the health
concerns of African Americans in our
communities, as well as our chapter
members who may be or know of someone
who is affected by the Sandwich
Generation This phenomena
affects all of us in one way or another
and the leadership of the Eastern Area
would like to address it. We can only
establish programs to address these
issues with the help and willingness of
chapter members here in the East.
Please
take a few minutes and click on the link
below and complete the Sandwich
Generation survey by June 6th,
2008 so your responses can help us
develop programs to address this growing
issue.

If there
are members in your chapter who do not
have email addresses, we are requesting
that your chapter's National Trends &
Services chair print and give the survey
to them directly. They can then send
the completed survey to one of us at the
address below.
Thank you
for your support in this endeavor. We
look forward to receiving your results
from the survey!
Sisterly
and Sincerely,
