members are newsmakers, role models, mentors, activists and volunteers who
work toward the realization of making the name “Links” not only a chain
of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful service.
[Washington D.C.] [August 25, 2011] – The Links, Incorporated, one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations, donated $50,000 to help Habitat for Humanity’s ongoing relief efforts in Haiti. read more »
On Saturday, July 2, 2011, The Central Area of The Links, Incorporated presented 2,000 disaster relief kits to the Red Cross and the United Way for Joplin, MO tornado victims. For nearly two dozen elementary and middle school students in the Princeton, Northwest Local and Winton Woods school districts, traveling to the African nation of Ghana seemed to be an unbelievable possibility. read more »
The Cincinnati Chapter of The Links, Incorporated welcomed more than 375 guests to celebrate their 60 years of service during “A Night To Remember,” an elegant cocktail attire soiree at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Guests walked the “green carpet” followed with dinner and dancing to Soul Pocket. read more »
Representatives from several Delaware Valley youth leadership organizations comprising “Future Faces of Wall Street” visited the New York Stock Exchange on Thurs., June 2 as part of a daylong summit and career enhancement program. read more »
The Education Committee of the United Nations Association of New York celebrated Black History Month and 2011 as the United Nations International Year for People of African Descent, with the Young Scholars Institute of Trenton, New Jersey and the Youth for Understanding International Student Exchange Program of New York and Boston. read more »
[WASHINGTON, DC] [February 15, 2011]. Diet Coke kicked it old school and hosted a “Capture the Flag” tournament to raise awareness and funds for heart health programs in Washington, D.C. Participants from Capitol Hill and local D.C. media outlets competed in the tournament to win $20,000 in donations to local heart health organizations. read more »
[Detroit, MI] [July 13, 2010]. More than 2,500
of the 12,000 plus members of The Links, Incorporated attended the
organization’s 37th National Assembly (June 30 - July 4). The five
days of workshops, seminars and key-note speakers was held in Michigan
at Detroit’s Cobo Center. During the event, Members of The Links,
Inc. celebrated community service achievements, recognized outstanding
contributions of individuals and elected new officers to lead the
organization.

[Washington, DC] [December 11, 2009]. The Links Incorporated’s Twelfth National President, Barbara Dixon Simpkins, has passed away.
In a communication to members of The Links, Incorporated, Dr. Gwendolyn Lee, the current National President, wrote, “Link Simpkins was truly an invaluable member of The Links, Incorporated. Her commitment to leadership and service helped to propel us to ‘world-class’ status.” read more »
[Philadelphia, PA] [October 1, 2009]. To honor the life and accomplishments of Frances Vashon Atkinson (1912-2009) The Links, Incorporated has passed a resolution stating how her efforts impacted the organization and inspired tens of thousands of women to dedicate their lives to service to the community. Atkinson was the last surviving organizer of The Links, Incorporated. read more »
[Washington, DC] [September 15, 2009] . On Friday September 18th, over three hundred junior and high school students, sponsored by The Links, Incorporated, participated in the United Nations 12th annual Youth Conference. Thousands of students participated. This event marks the first partnership between The Links, Incorporated and the Educational Outreach Department of the United Nations. read more »
[ATLANTA, GA] [Aug. 28, 2009] . On Friday, August 28, 2009, The Links, Incorporated and Habitat for Humanity International announced a partnership between the two organizations aimed at assisting those living without decent and affordable shelter in the United States and certain regions in Africa and the Caribbean." read more »
[Washington, DC] [April 24, 2009]. On April 28, 2009, Sojourner Truth, an American abolitionist and women's rights activist (1797 – November 26, 1883), will become the first African American woman to be memorialized with a bust in the United States Capitol. This honor is made possible in large part due to the support of The Links, Incorporated’s Capital City Chapter whose members are providing the stand on which the likeness will be placed. read more »
[New York, NY] [April 9, 2009]. At 4:00 PM today, members of The Links, Inc. will ring the NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the organization’s Greater New York Chapter. read more »
[Washington, DC] [January 25, 2009]. On Saturday, January 24th, The Links, Incorporated was recognized for its contributions and accomplishments for the betterment of society at a ceremony in Atlanta sponsored by the Trumpet Awards Foundation, Incorporated. The induction into the International Civil Rights Walk of Fame is a distinct honor reserved for those people and organizations that have significantly contributed to enhancing the quality of life for all and augmented global society by partnering with the cause of justice and equality. read more »
The Links, Incorporated hosted an Inaugural Reception on Sunday, January 18, to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The purpose of this Reception was two-fold. Firstly, to celebrate the Inauguration of President Barack Obama and usher in an era where our collective dreams, hopes and partnerships would bring much-needed change. read more »
[Chicago, IL] [December 8, 2008]. Tomorrow afternoon at Macy’s on State Street, distinguished global leader and founder and president of the Gahaya Links, Janet Nkubana, will be honored for her work empowering women to achieve economic stability. Ms. Nkubana, a basket weaver from the Rwanda Path to Peace Movement, will be presented with a check for $5,000 from The Links, Incorporated representing the proceeds from an auction of Rwandan baskets donated by Macy’s. read more »
[New York, NY] [October 27, 2008]. The Links, Incorporated held a comprehensive weekend conference at the United Nations to address women’s issues, October 9-12, 2008. The conference workshops covered Women’s Economic Empowerment in Africa, the Impact of Conflict on Women’s Issues, Making Connections throughout the African Diaspora and Exploring Partnership and Collaborative Opportunities. read more »
[Washington, DC] [May 11, 2008]. Included in the more than 800 winners of the National Achievement Scholarships recently announced by the National Achievement Scholarship Program, are six young Black women who will receive their $2,500 individual scholarships from The Links, Incorporated. read more »
The Links, Incorporated and Susan G. Komen for the Cure® have rolled out an unprecedented collaboration to mobilize the African American community to end breast cancer. Through Komen for the Cure’s Circle of Promise campaign, the two groups will work together to empower women to reclaim their lives and their health in an effort to reverse the alarming statistics on African Americans and breast cancer. read more »
An entourage of one-hundred-twelve members of The Links, Incorporated recently returned from South Africa where they visited six of the more than fifty schools. read more »
During their recent governance team meeting in New Orleans (LA) over 200 members of the Links, Incorporated, presented hospital and medical supplies and equipment to the Lower 9th Ward Health Clinic. read more »

The National Black McDonald's Owners Association (NBMOA) and two of their operators, who are also members of The Links, Incorporated, donated a total of $7,000 to The Links Safe House for Women in Crises located in Nassau Bahamas. read more »
The legendary Miss Nancy Wilson sung from her heart to an audience of 1,500 plus fans, in September 2006, at the North Carolina Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. read more »
